Andrew Toman (strength & conditioning/boys coach)

Currently I am a ISSA Certified Personal Trainer, but my passion for health and fitness began in high school athletics, specifically volleyball. I played on the Country Day School Mens Junior Volleyball team in Costa Rica for my junior and senior years. I started out by playing as the libero, or also referred as the defense specialist (DS). I played in two major tournaments: American Association of Schools in Central America (AASCA) Volleyball at the American School of Tegucigalpa in Honduras and the AASCA Volleyball at the Country Day School in Costa Rica. I also played in the national tournament in Costa Rica, our team won first place. Practices at the Country Day School are held year round and the tournaments finished before the school year, at that point in my senior year I decided I wanted to learn to play as ouside and middle hitter. The coach was extremely patient while working with me on my timing for spikes and blocking. This gave me the experience to know how to play defense and offense. After my first year at a university I was able to return to Costa Rica to visit family and friends. I was also given the privilage of being an unofficial assistant coach for the Country Day School Womens Junior team. During that time I was able to coordinate some of the conditioning drills and work one on one with players who were struggling with proper technique (bumps, sets, spikes and serves). The head coach also allowed me to help with warm-up before tournament games and to be his second set of eyes so that during time outs I could provide constructive criticism to certain players. Presently I participate in volleyball recreationally as the sub in a "B" League at the Flagstaff Athletic Club. I will also be leading the conditioning training at the Flagstaff Athletic Club where I will use my knowledge as a volleyball player trainer to help train the club team to be better players.

Major Williams

Major Williams has helped young girls gain confidence in their volleyball skills by teaching both the fundamentals of volleyball and concepts of winning as a team. Major took a serious interest in the year 2004 when his daughter decided she wanted to play. Like many places around the valley, there were not enough coaches. He volunteered his services with the City of Peoria and the YMCA competitive and non-competitive league. Over the years he has coached many girls and this year ten of the twelve 7th grade girls made their junior high school teams, many of the girls competing against 60+ girls for 12 positions.
